dental care

In the UK, you may register with an NHS dentist or you may choose to see a private dentist. As an NHS patient, you will still need to pay towards your dental care and related prescriptions (children are exempt), but this is much cheaper than private care.

Charges are split into three bands:

  • Band 1 (£18.80) – covers check-ups, adjustments, cleaning, x-rays, moulds, investigations, etc.
  • Band 2 (£51.30) – covers fillings, extractions, root canal treatments, etc.
  • Band 3 (£222.50) – covers veneers, crowns, bridges, dentures, etc.

For advanced or complicated treatments, you may need to be referred to a private dentist or specialist. This can be costly, so you may wish to consider dental insurance.
