A Weekend at Imola: Tiro’s WEC Adventure

I still can’t quite believe how much we squeezed into one weekend. Looking back, it feels like a blur of heat, engines, Italian phrases and the kind of memories you only make when you’re travelling with people who share the same passion for motorsport as I do.

Day 1: Bologna & The Heatwave
We landed in Bologna full of excitement… and immediately full of sweat. It was hot. The kind of heat that makes you question every clothing choice you’ve ever made. But we powered through, determined to make qualifying.

We spent the afternoon exploring the city, wandering through the porticoes, navigating Imola and practicing our Italian on anyone who would tolerate us. Some attempts were better than others, but we tried!

Navigating Italian transport was its own adventure. Between the trains, google maps and the occasional “are we even going the right way?” moment, we somehow managed to get everywhere we needed to be. Eventually.

Race Day: A Sea of Red
Sunday was the big one: 6 Hours of Imola World Endurance Race (and the first one of the season!).

Walking into the circuit felt electric. Everywhere you looked were Ferrari flags, Ferrari shirts and Ferrari caps. It was like stepping into a red ocean and being part of that crowd, hearing the engines echo through the hills, feeling the energy of thousands of fans… it was unreal.

We watched the Hypercars & Gt3 cars tear around the track, and even though the sun was relentless, none of us cared. It was one of those “I’ll remember this forever” moments…then came the thunderstorm.

One minute we were sweating, the next we were sprinting for cover as the sky opened up. Completely soaked, laughing, slightly panicked and it somehow made the day even better. A proper Emilia Romagna experience!

A Moment of Silence: Senna’s Memorial
Before leaving the circuit, we visited the Senna memorial. Even with the crowds and the noise of the weekend, that spot felt still. Quiet. Heavy. It’s impossible not to feel something standing there.

A Special Bonus: Meeting Familiar Faces
One of the highlights was getting the chance to meet up with candidates we had placed in teams at the track. Seeing them in their element, working in motorsport, doing what they love, it was a proud moment. It made the whole trip feel even more meaningful.

Monday: Back to Work (But the Good Kind)
On Monday, we switched gears and visited clients. After a weekend of racing and chaos, it was grounding to sit down, talk shop and strengthen those relationships, followed by lunch at Montana.

If you know, you know. The food, the atmosphere, the whole experience, the perfect way to wrap up the trip.

Looking Back
The weekend had everything: heat, storms, racing, culture, teamwork and a lot of laughter. Travelling with colleagues can go either way, but this trip reminded me how lucky I am to work with people who make even the stressful moments fun.

Imola wasn’t just a race weekend, it was one of those rare experiences that sticks with you long after you’re home.
