Season end is when the next move actually gets decided

October is WEC’s busiest hiring window. Budgets are confirmed, seats move and the teams worth joining for 2027 reveal themselves. If you are thinking about your next step, this is the moment to think properly rather than wait.

Towards the end of a WEC season, the picture across the paddock becomes unusually clear. Budgets for next year are confirmed rather than hoped for, programme commitments firm up. The moves that were only rumours in the summer start actually happening. That makes the closing weeks of the season the best window all year to think seriously about where you want to be in 2027, not the moment to react to whatever comes up first.

Why this window matters more than it looks

The case for thinking now

Every team in the paddock looks the same from the outside in the middle of a season. By the closing rounds, the difference between a team with real budget behind its 2027 programme and one still hoping to find it becomes obvious. So does the difference between a team building something with genuine commitment and one simply keeping a seat filled. Positions open in this window because those distinctions have just become visible to the people making decisions. Waiting until January to start thinking means arriving after the best of those decisions have already been made.

Stage one: this is a life change, not a job change

The Tiro Way, stage one

Moving role involves a great deal more than a change of employer. It is a life change. It deserves the commitment and the deep consideration that comes with one. Relocation, family circumstances, the technical programme itself, the culture of the team, how a manufacturer’s commitment actually translates into car development, whether a role builds toward the career you actually want rather than simply the next title on a CV: all of it matters. None of it can be weighed properly in a rushed conversation. Getting this right starts with taking the decision as seriously as it actually is.

Stage two: a career conversation, on your schedule

The Tiro Way, stage two

A career conversation with Tiro starts by helping you scope out what your career vision actually is, rather than starting from a list of open roles. From there, that vision is what puts you in the front row for the specific opportunities that actually match it, rather than every vacancy that happens to be advertised. We work motorsport hours to have that conversation, available outside standard working hours to accommodate people already working in the sport, so it happens at a time that suits you, freely and openly, rather than squeezed around someone else’s calendar.

Stage three: managed from first contact to first day

The Tiro Way, stage three

Once the right opportunity is identified, the process is managed the whole way through, from first contact to first day in the role. We build winning teams. That means treating your side of the match with the same seriousness as the team’s: helping you actually reach the career goal behind the move, not simply completing a placement.

Where we are recruiting right now

Controls, electronics and software, engine, design, race, performance, strategy and testing: these are the disciplines seeing the most movement across WEC programmes heading into 2027.

LMDH and GT3 experience is in genuine demand. Teams are equally open to strong engineers looking to make the move from Formula 1 into WEC for the first time. If any of that describes you, this window is worth a proper conversation.

Working with Tiro

If 2027 is genuinely on your mind, the end of this season is the right time to have a proper conversation about it, not the middle of next year’s silly season. Our work starts with advice, not a sales pitch: scoping out what you actually want before talking about any specific role.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FAQ

When is the best time to look for a new role in WEC?

Towards the end of the season, once budgets and programme commitments for the following year are confirmed rather than still being discussed. Waiting until the new season has already started means arriving after many of the best decisions have already been made.

Which disciplines are most in demand in WEC right now?

Controls, electronics and software, engine, design, race, performance, strategy and testing are all seeing significant movement heading into 2027, with particular demand for engineers with LMDH or GT3 experience.

Can an engineer move from Formula 1 into WEC?

Yes. Teams are actively open to strong engineers making that move for the first time. The technical skills involved transfer more directly than many people expect.

What happens in a confidential career conversation with Tiro?

It starts with your career vision rather than a specific vacancy: what you actually want the next few years to look like. That vision is what determines which opportunities you hear about, not the other way round.

recruitment

In today’s market, finding the right talent requires more than just posting a job advert. Scarcity of specialised skills and competition for top talent means recruitment has become increasingly complex. Tiro thrives in this space, using tailored recruitment strategies to connect businesses with the hard-to-find individuals who make a real difference.

We offer results without compromise by combining deep industry knowledge with access to “passive” candidates i.e. people not actively looking for a career change. People that are good at what they do, tend to be happy in their roles, and it is these high calibre individuals that could be perfect fit for your company. Partnering with Tiro gives you best-in-industry talent reach and confidence that every hire is the right one. The result? A recruitment process that saves time, reduces risk, and ensures the best people are placed at the heart of your company’s future.
