How we work — motorsport engineering, by discipline.
Five technical areas, one way of working: map the grid, target the real gap, match on fit, and manage the move. The paddock shuts down over the break the right conversations don’t.
The engineers who decide a season are rarely the ones applying for jobs. Across power unit, aerodynamics, chassis, performance and software, the people who close a real capability gap are almost always employed, delivering, and not looking. Finding them is a different job from filling a vacancy and it’s the one we do.
How we work
If you’re building the team. We map where skills actually sit across every team on the grid, target the specific capability you’re short on rather than the title on the req, match on genuine fit, and manage the move end to end from first contact to first day.
When it’s the hard 20%. The complex roles eat 80% of an in-house team’s time and then there are the ones you didn’t plan for: a key resignation, a development shortfall that suddenly needs covering. These candidates aren’t active. We go to market for them, working motorsport hours and putting in the time outside nine-to-five to secure the right person which leaves your in-house team free to work the application route and make the most of their time in a pressured environment.
If you’re the engineer. This is a career fit, not a spec fit. A confidential conversation about where you want to be, what matters personally, and whether a move genuinely beats what’s still ahead of you where you are weighed honestly, both ways. No exposure, no pressure. An open, safe space to talk.
1 · Power Unit — PU / Battery / MGU
With the 2026 regulations putting the ICE and EV balance at the centre of performance, genuine PU expertise has rarely been more contested or harder to reach through an advert.
2 · Aerodynamics
Under a restricted testing framework, the teams that win extract the most from limited tunnel and CFD allowance. The right aerodynamicist is among the most valuable and most fought-over hires on the grid.
3 · Chassis
From the monocoque out, chassis is some of the most demanding engineering in the sport and a single strong hire can lift a whole department. The people who do it well are rarely between jobs.
4 · Performance / Track
Races are increasingly decided on execution strategy, vehicle dynamics, the operational layer not raw pace alone. The engineers who deliver that are among the most sought-after and least available in the sport.
5 · ML & .NET / High-Performance Computing
From strategy models to aero surrogates to the compute behind CFD, teams now out-engineer rivals in code as much as in carbon. With the 2028 GPU-compute shift ahead, demand for this profile is only rising and the best have options far beyond motorsport.
Working with Tiro
Whichever discipline you’re building or thinking of moving in the approach is the same. We map the grid, target the real gap, and reach the people who aren’t advertising themselves, then manage the move from first contact to first day. For engineers, it’s a confidential, no-obligation conversation about the right career fit, not a spec fit.
The paddock shuts down over the break. The right conversations don’t. A human solution for a human problem.
