Engineering Planner – Heavy Industry

The Role
As Engineering Planner, you will play a pivotal role in keeping the site operating safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. This is a hands-off, high-impact role suited to someone with strong engineering credibility and the confidence to challenge, influence, and improve established ways of working.
You will be responsible for:
Planning and coordinating major planned shutdowns and outages
Organising and prioritising day-to-day engineering activities
Using SAP / CMMS to plan, schedule, and forecast future engineering works
Liaising closely with Purchasing and Supply Chain to ensure cost control and material availability
Working with senior engineering and operational stakeholders to align plans with business priorities
Producing and reviewing risk assessments, safe systems of work, and permits
Supporting and participating in audits and compliance activities
Driving change management initiatives to improve planning, efficiency, and execution
This is a busy, varied role that gives you real visibility of the wider business and how engineering decisions impact performance at a global level.
About You
Youll be an ex-engineer who understands the realities of heavy industry and has the presence to work effectively with experienced, confident engineering teams.
You will ideally have:
A minimum of NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering Maintenance
A background in heavy industry, manufacturing, energy, metals, cement, chemicals, or similar
Strong experience in engineering planning and shutdown coordination
Working knowledge of SAP or other CMMS systems
Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and technical specialists
A structured, safety-led mindset with strong knowledge of risk assessments and SSOW
The personal authority to implement change and challenge where needed
