We are seeking an experienced Materials Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and laboratory technicians. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving innovation, ensuring technical excellence, and supporting the companys strategic direction across all materials- and process related activities.
As the Materials & Process Engineering Manager, you will oversee critical areas including:
Introduction of new materials and coatings
Materials characterisation and testing
Development and maintenance of materials and process specifications
Special Process qualification and compliance
Failure investigation and laboratory analysis
You will act as a pivotal technical leader, collaborating closely with Powertrain and Chassis departments to define material roadmaps, set and manage budgets, and execute R&D programmes using internal and external resources-including universities, research centres, and specialist laboratories.
You will also be the organisations primary reference for manufacturing special processes, particularly those involving metallurgical considerations. In addition, you will be responsible for laboratory equipment budgeting and ensuring a strong culture of health and safety across all activities.
What will make you successful:
Masters degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering (PhD in Material Science is an advantage)
Excellent communication, leadership, and cross functional collaboration skills
Strong knowledge of metallic materials (including light alloys, high strength steels, and high temperature alloys & coatings)
Deep experience with special processes such as: Heat treatment, Welding, Forging, Investment casting & Additive manufacturing
Experience in motorsport environments is a plus
