A key element of the F1 2026 regulations is a change to the power unit. With new technical architecture, a lead engineer with a niche skill set was required to meet the challenge. Talent attraction in motorsport is highly confidential, requiring extensive research, strategy, and networking. On top of that, managing the candidate’s complex career and personal needs – combined with global relocation – made it the perfect hiring challenge for Tiro to solve.
The Challenge
There are only five other teams to draw from, and just one person in each team covers this activity. That’s a potential talent pool of only five people globally!
With an urgent need to fill the position, we not only had to source a highly specialised engineer but also secure the candidate quickly. Notice periods in motorsport often span 12 months, and with the need for international relocation, it required a significant commitment from the candidate.
