Location: West Midlands
Working for this leading global automotive company you will be responsible for providing support to the engineering team.  It is a hands-on job that will include performance checking of samples, testing Electric Power Steering systems using mechanical and electrical test rigs and conducting follow-up evaluation work. The job demands sufficient computer literacy for logging / analysing test results, and the verification and reporting of results.

Principal Accountabilities:

“ To provide technical support in validating the product and it’s subcomponents throughout all stages of its development.
“ Perform assigned tests on existing test equipment, including mechanical and electronic set-up of test samples, in line with the requirements of  the Quality Manual, Customer Specifications and Test Equipment Work Instructions
“ Be familiar with and supportive of test documentation such as timing plans, progress records, run sheets and fault reports.
“ Be familiar and supportive of the Test Department quality procedures.
“ Be familiar with and maintain equipment stores, including rig spares, test fixtures and test equipment.
“ Support and familiarity with department sample handling systems, including sample identification and calibration control.

Key Skills/Personal Characteristics: -
 
“ Ideally time serviced apprentice with a background in testing high accuracy sub-assemblies.
“ Practical person with a flexible and willing approach 
“ Understanding of basic electro-mechanical and test principles.
“ Good organisational skills
“ PC literate and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
“ Familiar with working within a quality system such as ISO 17025 or 16949.
“ A good communicator who is comfortable at all levels and with customers
“ A teamplayer who is willing to travel abroad occasionally, work shifts and overtime, sometimes at short notice
“ Experience of hydraulic equipment and control systems is desirable
