As Purchasing Manager you will support the Supply Chain Manager in developing and implementing a range of strategic and tactical objectives to the best cost benefit possible. This will include developing mutually beneficial supply partnerships and managing low cost sourcing initiatives.
Their main role will be that of managing the tactical purchasing decisions of their own select range of suppliers and those of the Purchasing Assistants. In addition they will support and the Supply Chain Manager on Strategic Sourcing Projects, as well as identifying, initiating and managing their own their own strategic sourcing projects
They will be assigned responsibility for sourcing and purchasing raw materials for manufacture from the our highest profile suppliers, as well as managing supply issues of other team members suppliers if deemed appropriate. These include, but are not limited to the following: Far East Suppliers and Eastern European Suppliers.
They will also be responsible for managing a range of vendor managed / consignment stock agreements which are in place and will be involved in developing new agreements where there are opportunities to improve the on time delivery performance to our customers.
In addition they will develop supplier relationships, monitor vendor performance, and coordinate the supplier review program and work towards collective continuous improvement. They will need to have proven man management skills as this person will be expected to guide a team forward following the agreed department objectives.
They will be fundamental in moving the supply chain forward to ensure that we continue to have a proactive and not reactive supply chain. Here demonstrable project management skills are required as not only will the candidate be dealing with third party suppliers but group companies and partner agencies.
The candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing; it is desirable that the candidate have in depth experience of engineering procurement, (mechanical, electronic or electrical) as well as good ERP skills, with SAP in particular being preferred.
As this is a key role within the Supply chain ,a good understanding of commercial, logistical and production planning will required, as this role should be seen as a step to a wider more strategic role.
