Role: Principal Engineer – Software Team Lead

As the Team Leader with a global automotive company you will be responsible for providing leadership of the development of the software to achieve the project objectives and milestones

Principal Accountabilities:

Ensure the technical aspects of the system meet the system and software requirements   :
o Ensure adherence to the development process (including tools and methodologies) inline with company processes and ensure all required resources are available and working.
o Understand the system requirements and ensure the software requirements are complete, testable and unambiguous.
o Manage and direct the technical development of the software (design, implementation and test).
o Provide technical input into reviews (including the impact of electronics and system design and changes).
o Reporting technical status to the  engineering managers and software team leaders.
o Develop software modules for critical aspects of the system (including design, implementation and validation activities when necessary).

o Define and monitor the development schedules in line with company and customer deadlines.
o Report progress to management and customers.
o Provide planning input into the Change Review Board (CRB) both within software and at a project level.
o Ensure the software builds are baselined and built correctly.

Manage the introduction of process improvements:
o participate in process improvement initiative. Implement agreed process improvements within the project.

Support the customer to ensure successful product introduction is achieved:
o participate in / support technical meeting when required.
o Represent the company at customer sites to investigate issues as required.
o Participate in requirement and design reviews with customer experts
“ Management of third party suppliers to ensure process compliance, technical correctness and on time delivery.

Personal Characteristics:
Degree or similar qualification in Electronic Engineering/Software Engineering
Extensive experience in automotive embedded software engineering
Experienced in managing a team
Full understanding of the software development process to ensure the definition and implementation of the software for a high integrity, low cost automotive product.
Understanding of the interactions between the electronics, microprocessor and software i
Understanding of SPICE, ISO26262 and AUTOSAR
IEE chartered member
