Role: Power Electronics Engineer

 As a ower Electronics Engineer with a rapidly expanding global manufacturer your responsibilities will include:

 Development of power and control hardware for driving brushless electric motors

Planning work to meet deadlines

Formal and informal communication of results

Devising techniques and concepts to provide new technical solutions

Development of processes/procedures

 The ideal candidate:

 Essential:

Motor drive electronics including power MOSFETs, IGBTs, driver circuits/ICs and diodes (mains and low voltage)

Understanding of device characteristics and issues with switching behaviour in real circuits

Understanding of thermal issues

Digital and analogue hardware including microprocessors

Low voltage and mains voltage equipment

DFMEA and PFMEA analysis

EMC regulations and experience with solving EMC problems

High volume/low cost electronics manufacture –

• Knowledge of available technologies and devices, interpretation of datasheets and design calculations to confidently select the lowest cost yet reliable devices and circuits

• Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and common issues

Use of modern test equipment for measurement and analysis of power electronic circuitry

Knowledge of PCB design and understanding of layout issues for combined power and control circuitry

 Desirable:

Knowledge of motor simulation and control

Awareness of issues related to embedded software

Design of power supplies
