As the Mechanical Design Team Leader you will lead a team to deliver systems for a number of high profile and challenging global applications with European vehicle manufacturers. You will work alongside the Electrical Systems Engineer and lead our design teams in achieving outstanding results. The role is ideally suited to an experienced Team Leader/people manager with a drive to exceed customer expectation and who is willing to take ownership for a significant part of the system by driving the design teams to deliver correct, safe and robust designs to time, to budget and to the highest quality
 
Responsibilities include:
Capture customer requirements documents, generate system requirements and flow down to sub-system requirements. Review and agree requirements with customer and sub-system design teams as necessary
Lead design teams to ensure timely delivery and effective integration of each sub-system into a complete system that meets system level targets
Includes coordination of tolerance studies, updates to interface drawings and build pedigrees and management of the BOM
Generate test procedures, review test specifications, results and test activities as required to ensure requirements at all levels are verified
Support and lead issue resolution activities as necessary
Support dFMEA, PFMEA and other necessary analyses both at a system level and ensuring continuity at a sub-system level
Evaluate and approve product change requests from internal and external sources including packaging studies
 
The ideal candidate:
2.1 or better degree in a relevant engineering discipline
Experienced in leading and supervising a team
Excellent understanding of mechanical design principles in both 2D and 3D CAD
Automotive industry experience
Rigorous and positive approach to issue resolution
Demonstrated ability to work proactively
Knowledge of a range of engineering disciplines

Desirable:
A working knowledge of electronics
