As an Electronic Design Engineer with a global automotive company, you will be part of the UK Product Design Team, supporting the design and development of electronic control units for the Automotive market that are used to control specialist steering and powertrain systems. You will be involved in engineering activities from initial requirements capture through the design, development, validation, and introduction to high volume manufacturing.
Principal Accountabilities:
Take responsibility for performing detailed requirements analysis and design of circuits.
Become familiar with the company’s production processes and products in order to design high quality products.
Perform FMEA and reliability analysis on a design.
Perform a full analysis of a circuit, using simulation and other classic techniques
Design and test any support equipment that may be required.
Liasing with Customers and Suppliers both internal and external
Generate and present technical issues both within the company and externally to customers or suppliers.
Lessons learned capture and knowledge sharing.
Support to continual improvement and cost saving activities.
Ensure and support robust problem resolution process during product development.
Reporting to a manager regularly on progress, and any new issues which are diagnosed.
Personal Characteristics and Experience:
Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline
Ability to read and understand electronics at the schematic level.
Demonstrated ability in design and development of actuator/motor control
Experience of designing sensor interfaces
Experience of design, development and validation of products for embedded applications in harsh operating environments.
Ability to analyse and document circuit performance
Strong interpersonal skills with the enthusiasm and tenacity to drive improvement
Good team working skills with the ability to make an impact at all levels
Ability to work on own initiative.
Knowledge of automotive products and associated technologies
Ideally combined hardware and software skills and experience
Good appreciation of Mechanical and software design issues.
Able to support customer testing/development programs
Flexibility in working hours, willing to travel (both UK and abroad)
