As Engine Test Engineer with a leading heavy duty automotive business you will primarily be required to support the development of the engine test cells to meet the specified requirements of the product development, calibration and electronics teams

Responsibilities of the Engine Test Engineer include:
Providing support to engineers using the facility.
Liaising with the project teams to improve test procedures and quality of data.
Maintenance and development of test software and documentation.
Integrating new hardware into test systems.
Ensure adherence to quality control standards, QS900, ISO1400 and TS16949

The ideal Engine Test Engineer
Qualified to degree level in an engineering discipline
Familiar with mechanical control systems including dynamometers.
Familiar with the use of various software applications – AVL Puma/Cameo/Indicom.
Experience with Diesel engine calibration
Strong testing experience in a similar engine testing environment.
Excellent learning skills, willing to expand their skills base and to train others.
A genuine interest and enjoyment in engineering and resolving technical problems.
Able to demonstrate excellent presentation, communication and inter-personal skills
Ability to accurately report back test data to project teams, familiarity with AVL Concerto software desirable.
Experience (desirable) in:
Mechanical engineering environment (test systems).
Creating mechanical test procedures using step sequencing software
Instrumentation (types, hardware, procedures, calibration).
Data acquisition
Closed loop process control systems.
Eddy current and AC dynamometer test systems.
Engine fundamentals, combustion theory and diesel injection principles.
Basic electronics.
Data structures, databases, SQL.
