Role:   Design Engineer

As Design Engineer with a leading powetrain consultancy you must have a good knowledge of Pro experience including surface modelling and automotive industry background.

The ideal candidate:
Experience in the automotive industry specifically in powertrain design;
o Knowledge of base engine component and system architectures
o Must have good knowledge of Pro Experience (including surface modelling).
o Desirable to have experience with Pro/Engineer, but not a must
Able to demonstrate experience and/or knowledge in the following:
o Understanding of component materials and manufacturing processes (eg castings/ fabrications etc)
o Fastener engineering
o Create 3D models of cast, forged or plastics mounded structural machine components
o Create2D engineering drawings
o GD&T techniques
o Engineering design calculations by hand or spreadsheet, using a “Classical” approach
o Quality disciplines (e.g. FMEA, fishbone diagrams, 8D analysis, test plan development) – desirable.
General skill requirements
o Able to plan & formulate own work tasks to meet deadlines
o Able to interface with a wide range of different project customers
o Ability to work as part of a team or on your own
o Good communication skills
o proactive
Minimum BSc or BEng (2:1) in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or equivalent
