Working for the  world’s largest producers of electrically powered steering systems, supplying a wide range of vehicle manufacturers including VW, Ford, Renault and Fiat. Key to vehicle safety these products must meet stringent legislative requirements while also satisfying increasing demands from end-users, resulting in a highly technical product that requires high calibre engineers.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a global team responsible for delivering year-on-year cost savings for our Column Drive products with excellent prospects for increasing your experience and personal development.
The methods of Value Management’s cost savings are very broad, ranging from support for supplier negotiations to highly complex and innovative design solutions. This gives an experience not available in most other roles, allowing a variety and freedom to explore all possible opportunities to improve the end-products.
 
What you’ll do
Define and select cost-down ideas through technical analysis and data gathering
Progress cost-down ideas from initial concepts, through feasibility, to fully validated designs
Lead technical discussions and project meetings, both internally and with suppliers
Create CAD models
Conduct testing
Report and conclude on test work

What we are looking for
Essential:
Experience in a design or manufacturing related function (non-Automotive background is welcome)
Fluent with Catia and/or Pro-E CAD software
Persistence to challenge the existing knowledge
Detailed knowledge in one, or more, of the following areas: machining, sintering, plastic moulding, die-casting, assembly methods, prototyping, lean manufacturing, validation, cost reduction

Desirable:
Experience working with electrically powered steering systems
6 Sigma trained
