As Design Development Engineer with a leading 1st tier automotive supplier you will join a team providing fuel injection system designs for engines using medium duty product technologies that meet market requirements world wide. To ensure that the resulting designs meet the comapny standards of product performance, design & cost and that they are capable of meeting the quality and in use targets for reliability. To meet with customers’ engineers at appropriate levels when required to ensure that their engineering aspirations are met for agreed programmes.
The job role will involve product engineering design and development activities as well as manufacturing and aftermarket support for the full range of non common rail products – principally rotary pumps and mechanical injectors, but including occasionally unit pumps and in line pumps.
The Design Development Engineers responsibilities include:
Design and development of mechanical and electro-mechanical diesel fuel injection system components
Devising and executing test and analysis work on fuel injection equipment rigs, engines and vehicles as appropriate
Contributing to formal and informal design and development reviews at appropriate stages of projects
Writing reports and presenting results to internal and external audiences.
Organise the procurement and testing of sample hardware to meet project requirements
To deputise for the principal engineer as required
The ideal candidate:
Working towards or already achieved Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status
Degree (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering or related subject.
Experience of design, development and support of complex automotive component products at all stages of product life cycle from concept through volume manufacturing to service only
Able to operate effectively in a multi-national multi-lingual project environment
Experience of engine control and fuel injection systems
Good written and spoken fluency in English
