<p>World renowned Aerospace industry specialist in Bedfordshire is looking to recruit a Quality Assurance, Environmental and Health &amp; Safety Manager.   The sucessful Quality Assurance, Environmental and Health &amp; Safety Manager will be working for the world&#8217;s largest manufacturer of aircraft interior products including Galleys and seating, with an installed base of over 1 million premium, business class and tourist class seats. At the Leighton Buzzard facility in the UK they provide a spares and aftermarket support for all of their seat and Galley models, manufacturing both newly designed and existing components.  You will have an HNC/HND or BSc in an appropriate engineering discipline, have EASA signatory status, experience of AS 9100, experience with Quality Management Systems and knowledge of CAA and FAA standards.  This role reports directly to VP &amp; GM of Interior Structures and supports the Senior Management Team and Middle Management Team in the development and maintenance of all approvals and product quality standards whether digital or manufactured.</p>

<p>As the Manufacturing &amp; Design Quality Assurance, Environmental and Health &amp; Safety Manager your responsibilities include:<br />
**Responsibility for implementation of best practice policies and procedures including H&amp;S and Environmental<br />
**Maintenance of quality standards, systems and procedures and ensuring compliance<br />
**The maintenance EASA Pt 21 Sub part G and AS 9100 quality approvals, ensuring compliance<br />
**Support of EASA Pt 21 Sub part J<br />
**The introduction of internal audit procedures, ensuring compliance to them<br />
**The management of external audits<br />
**The improvement of the quality management procedures through the analysis of performance and data following through with the implementation of identified actions<br />
**Reviewing customer requirements and ensuring that they are met including following up on customer returns and permanent corrective actions<br />
**Working with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers and ensuring that these are fully adhered to by the suppliers<br />
**Ensure that manufacturing, supply chain and design/certification processes meet the required standards<br />
**Maintain the Business Continuity Plan ensuring that it is thorough robust and tested<br />
**Ensure that internal quality standards are achieved, identifying issues and swiftly resolving these through improvement processes (e.g 8D)<br />
**Ensure that the training plans across the business support the quality expectations<br />
**Setting up and maintaining controls and documentation procedures<br />
**Monitoring performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports;</p>
<p>Health &amp; Safety<br />
**Making changes to working practices that are safe and comply with legislation<br />
**Preparing health and safety strategies and developing internal policy<br />
**Carrying out risk assessments and considering how risks could be reduced<br />
**Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards<br />
**Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented<br />
**Leading in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks<br />
**Maintaining records of inspections findings and producing reports that suggest improvements<br />
**Keeping records of incidents and accidents and producing statistics for managers;<br />
**Keeping up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all HSE legislation and any developments that affect the A/C industry<br />
**Producing management reports, newsletters and bulletins<br />
**Advising on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases</p>
<p>The Ideal Candidate:<br />
**HNC/HND or BSc in an appropriate engineering discipline<br />
**EASA signatory status<br />
**Experience of AS 9100<br />
**Experience with Quality Management Systems<br />
**Auditor training and qualification advantageous<br />
**Knowledge of CAA and FAA standards, approvals and procedures including certification, material requirements and engineering standards<br />
**Working knowledge of the company&#8217;s products or similar<br />
**Working Knowledge of IOSH and HSE regulations and practices<br />
**Working knowledge of the ISO 9000 and AS 9100 standards<br />
**High standard of written and spoken communication skills in order to explain Quality and health &amp; safety processes to a wide range of people and to give presentations to groups<br />
**Negotiating skills, to convince managers of the need to implement and maintain both quality and safety standards that may compromise speed or efficiency in the organisation<br />

<p>Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer will include:<br />

<p>As Project Manager with a leading automotive manufacturing business you will represent the purchasing and design function within the project team. The Project Manager will liaise with the Design team to understand the engineering drawings as well as liaise with the Romania manufacturing plant and buying team located in France to ensure all components are possible for production.  You must demonstrate a strong manufacturing background and posses a HND / HNC or engineering degree.</p>
<p>Responsibilities include:<br />
Liaise with the design team to understand engineering drawings<br />
Communicate with the buying department to ensure all components ordered from suppliers meet with design specification<br />
Represent the purchasing function to all assigned project and product teams.<br />
Liaise with the manufacturing plant to communicate design &amp; purchasing requirements<br />
Track the company global Supply Management&#8217;s performance to PDP (product development process) timing, including sourcing, PPAP and <a href="mailto:R@R">R@R</a>, as well as to business case (new and current parts) on new programs.<br />
Provide input to project management system that tracks program timing.<br />
Complete purchased part risk assessment stage 0 with Engineering and Supplier Quality input.<br />
Conduct segmentation process on purchased material for all new programs. Develop readiness, quality, and sourcing strategies for each purchased component, including carry-over parts, in collaboration with project teams, supplier quality, and category buyers.<br />
Provide input to PI-99 (business case) and appropriation requests.<br />
Support assigned Customer Response Teams, including answering CCDs and QRFs on all new and current parts.<br />
Utilize all available tools (value stream mapping, VA/VE, etc.) early in product development to influence design and sourcing to reduce cost and improve quality.<br />
Responsible to communicate engineering changes on current parts to category buyers.<br />
Collaborate with the category buyer and BCC team on all sourcing decisions on identifying opportunities for link and leverage, for best cost country sourcing and localization.<br />
Support product line MCIP strategy sessions and ensure that design initiative within your product line are implemented according to MCIP Database timing.<br />
Check all administrative tasks are completed to ensure on-time PO issuance for tooling, prototype, etc. and provide assistance as necessary.<br />
Define, develop, train, and implement new model launch readiness process; apply selectively to critical programs.</p>

<p>The Key Responsibilities of the Strategic Buyer include:<br />
**Identify potential suppliers for the Structures Business who may be able to offer new, innovative products in accordance with programme objectives<br />
**Evaluate potential suppliers through an audit process<br />
**Working with the potential suppliers and the programme team, identify opportunities to reduce weight and cost, and address quality issues.<br />
**Maintain a minimal selection of suppliers with whom B/E can adopt a true &#8220;partnership sourcing&#8221; approach to minimise cost and increase profit throughout the supply chain.<br />
**With Supply Chain Manager and Company Lawyer, create and maintain appropriate supply agreements, leading the negotiation phase.<br />

<p>As Purchasing Manager you  will support the Supply Chain Manager in developing and implementing a range of strategic and tactical objectives to the best cost benefit possible. This will include developing mutually beneficial supply partnerships and managing low cost sourcing initiatives.</p>
<p>Their main role will be that of managing the tactical purchasing decisions of their own select range of suppliers and those of the Purchasing Assistants. In addition they will support and  the Supply Chain Manager on Strategic Sourcing Projects, as well as identifying, initiating and managing their own their own strategic sourcing projects<br />
 <br />
They will be assigned responsibility for sourcing and purchasing raw materials for manufacture from the our highest profile suppliers, as well as managing supply issues of other team members suppliers if deemed appropriate.   These include, but are not limited to the following: Far East Suppliers and Eastern European Suppliers.</p>
<p>They will also be responsible for managing a range of vendor managed / consignment stock agreements which are in place and will be involved in developing new agreements where there are opportunities to improve the on time delivery performance to our customers.</p>
<p>In addition they will develop supplier relationships, monitor vendor performance, and coordinate the supplier review program and work towards collective continuous improvement. They will need to have proven man management skills as this person will be expected to guide a team forward following the agreed department objectives.</p>
<p>They will be fundamental in moving the supply chain forward to ensure that we continue to have a proactive and not reactive supply chain. Here demonstrable project management skills are required as not only will the candidate be dealing with third party suppliers but group companies and partner agencies.</p>
<p>The candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing; it is desirable that the candidate have in depth experience of engineering procurement, (mechanical, electronic or electrical) as well as good ERP skills, with SAP in particular being preferred.</p>
<p>As this is a key role within the Supply chain ,a good understanding of commercial, logistical and production planning will required, as this role should be seen as a step to a wider more strategic role.<br />

<p>In this role you will produce fully machined components from drawings and ensure the quality and on time delivery. You will work in a safe and flexible manner as part of a team with a very high level of standards. Your key responsibilities in this role are:</p>
<p>Fully machine patterns and composite components required from drawings supplied</p>
<p>Program components on machine using information provided</p>
<p>Save all programs and set up sheets after every job</p>
<p>Assist team leader and engineers with any tooling or material matters</p>
<p>Ensure on time delivery</p>
<p>Ensure quality of parts is to the standard required</p>
<p>Work within a team environment with minimum supervision</p>
<p>Transfer into Manual machining if the workload requires</p>
<p>You will have previous experience in a composites, motorsport, aerospace or low volume, high quality batch production environment as a CNC Machinist. Knowledge and experience of Heidenhain controls would be an advantage.</p>
<p>Please note you will be required to work extended hours, shifts or weekends, thus a flexible attitude is essential.</p>
